What Our Guests Say

Lovely owner who cares a lot, she helped us by letting our dog out when we wanted to go out, she allowed us to have a fan when we mentioned it being hot, and she spoke nicely to us when in passing. Really lovely views from the place! We stayed in the cottage with the two double beds, and balcony. Beds were comfortable, but it did get hot because of the size of the bed, so me and my partner had to sleep separately which was a shame. The kitchen was fully equipped, even had pepper which was great for cooking! Fridge worked well, freezer had lots of ice and didn’t fully keep the ice creams frozen but that’s an easy fix I’m sure! The pool and hot tub was very clean and fun! Pool was cold but it was nice to go from pool to hot tub. The reason for -1 star is because I did find it rather stressful. There was a big manual which we needed to read on arrival which included a cleaning check list to do before you leave, information about everything (which was helpful) but there were a few things I would have liked to have been told before booking, especially regarding dogs. It would be nice to know before booking: 1. Dogs need to be kept on leads at all times, including the walks nearby as they are on the farms property. Nearest dog walk off lead is 15+ mins drive away. 2. There may be a fee if the cleaners take longer than they are paid for- they charged the owner an extra £30 for an hour of extra work cleaning away our dog hairs. I was asked to pay for this however I was never informed of extra fees and I’d communicated with the owner regarding there being hairs around the place before leaving, but that I was trying to keep him groomed. She said hopefully her cleaners can tackle it. IF YOU HAVE A DOG WHICH SHEDS A LOT, they want you to ask for a hoover before leaving to clean it all up yourself, or use a dustpan and brush (under the sink) to stay on top of it- unfortunately I wasn’t made aware of this and I was trying to stay on top of it by brushing him. The owner however is a very nice lady and after expressing my frustration with the lack of communication on this subject she was very polite and apologetic. She is a very good host! Just a shame about the rules around dogs. 3. Our dog usually sleeps on the couch and not the floor. It’s an all paws on the floor policy which I also wasn’t aware of, and I couldn’t stop him from going on the couches once we had gone to bed, but we did protect the couch with a towel as they had 4 towels there. The owner later expressed that the cleaners weren’t happy with the towels having lots of hairs on them. - This couldn’t be prevented as the towels can be washed but the sofa can’t and could otherwise have been damaged, which I didn’t want. The owner has said that they are looking into a dog area where they can be off leash. This is great for future guests (when it happens) however, I personally won’t be able to come back here again due to the paws on floor policy, on lead policy, and cleaning charges which I wasn’t aware of. I think it’s a great place for small dogs who are fine on lead, and for families with kids who enjoy the pool, but for us unfortunately it was quite stressful by the end of the holiday/ the after messages. Once again though, the host is lovely and it is a great place for other people to visit (that’s why it’s 4 stars still!) This is just my personal, honest review, it is a very lovely place, just wasn’t right for our dog.

Such a lovely relaxing location, very friendly host, 100% recommended, worth every penny. We used it for a brief overnight stay to escape the daily grind, it definitely met the brief, shame we couldn't stay longer, maybe next time.

We stayed in Rowan at Vale Farm Cottages and had a lovely stay. The interior was comfortable, the bed was comfortable, and my cosy room was very nice. I especially liked the sheep drawing on the wall, but even better was seeing actual sheep outside my window, along with rabbits in the early morning. It worked well as a family base for exploring Brecon and the surrounding area. The pool was nice to have available, as was the jacuzzi. The views were stunning, especially when the clouds were touching one of the distant hills. At night, it was almost completely dark and the area was so quiet, with no sound of cars except the occasional other guest driving past. Danielle went above and beyond during our stay. She even brought her dog Bonnie up to see me, and I really enjoyed petting her, especially as I no longer have a dog of my own. The only small issues were that the knives were not sharp enough, and the lighting was quite subdued, which made doing a puzzle in the evening difficult. Aside from that, it was a very comfortable and memorable stay, and I would happily give it 5 stars.

What a beautiful place to stay, we had a family weekend for mums 80th in the farm house. It was so chilled and all ages catered for, we will miss early morning sitting in the conservatory looking at the view. Youngsters will miss the swimming pool. We booked the photographer recommended on the website, Emmie Jones who was so nice and took some beautiful photos. Would definitely stay here again and recommend this place to everyone, thank you so much Danielle x

What a Gem. We stayed here in April in Walnut. A lovely two bed well equipped cottage with stunning views to the Beacons. It's within a very well maintained farm with lots of local wildlife including Red Kites flying just yards from our window, and clear skies at night for stargazing. It is very dog friendly. Facilities include a swimming pool and hot tub. Danielle was very welcoming. Would definately recommend and we will return. Paul, Sarah, Kit and Bill
